The king of Navarre, on account of thefe mar* riages, was willing to furrender, for ten years, to the king of Spain, as a fecurity for his good faith, the towns and caftles of Eftella, of Tudela and of la Guardia. King Henry confented to give up to the Englifh fir Peter Courtenay and the lord de PEfparre, a Gafcon, who were his prifoners. All thefe different treaties were fealed, and fworn to be faithfully obferved for ever by the two kings; and it was agreed that whoever fhould any way in-fringe them fhould fubmit himfclf to the judgment of the pope.
