All thefe knights departed for their different garrifons ; but the count de Lifle remained in la Rèole, and, had the fortrcfs put in proper repair. When the earl of Derby had taken poffeflion of Bergerac, and ftaid there two days, he afked the fenefchal of Bourdeaux, what was mod advifable for him next to undertake, as he wifhed not to remain idle. The fenefchal replied, that he thought it would be beft to go towards Perigord and upper Gafcony. The earl of Derby then gave out his orders to march to Perigord, and left fir John de la Santèf captain of Bergerac.
